Welcome to Camp PORTA + Hel’s Diner

People of Radical Transformative Artistry

10-Year Anniversary • Burning Man 2026 • Theme: Axis Mundi

We all know that when it comes to joining a theme camp at Burning Man, there are many options — so thank you for considering joining Camp PORTA and Hel’s Diner. And remember: you don’t need a camp to have an incredible Burn — but when you join PORTA, you become part of something truly transformative.

A Decade of Radical Artistry

2026 marks ten years as a placed theme camp and twelve as a creative collective. What’s made us thrive year after year isn’t luck — it’s us: the builders, dreamers, musicians, and makers who show up, contribute, and create something unforgettable together.
Camp PORTA only exists through shared effort, shared cost, and shared magic. Every hour, every meal, every light, every beat — it all feeds back into the creative pulse that we bring to Black Rock City as our gift.

Our 2026 Theme: Axis Mundi

Burning Man 2026 celebrates the Axis Mundi — the cosmic pillar connecting earth and sky, humanity and the infinite. Camp PORTA will bring this theme to life through art, light, sound, and community:

  • A central art piece inspired by the Axis Mundi — a vertical beam of light and sound that unites heaven and playa.

  • Hel’s Diner, our legendary two-story art car, reborn with flame effects, BBQ potstickers, and rooftop shade structures — a symbol of fire, craft, and connection.

  • The PORTA Stage, featuring live music, DJs, and performances that elevate body and spirit.

  • Interactive art zones where analog meets digital — LED sculptures, live painting, and immersive experiences that invite everyone to play.

Life in Camp PORTA

We’re an interactive camp with space to gather, lounge, dance, and create. We cook together, we laugh together, we build together. From our kitchen and brunch service to our power grid, sound system, and flame effects, every element is built by the hands and hearts of campmates. Whether you’re part of the build crew, the on-playa team, or the LNT crew, you’re an essential part of the magic.

At Camp PORTA, every night is a 🌍 global feast. From Persian to Thai, Mediterranean to German, our gourmet dinners bring the world to the desert — uniting burners through flavor, fire, and family.

What Your Camp Dues Support — and Why They Matter

Camp PORTA thrives because of you.
Your dues don’t just keep the lights on — they keep the spirit, art, and community of our camp alive year-round. Every dollar, every hour volunteered, and every act of participation fuels the creative engine that makes Camp PORTA one of Burning Man’s longest-standing and most vibrant placed theme camps — now celebrating our 10-year anniversary.

This isn’t a service being provided — this is how we function together as a nonprofit creative family. Camp PORTA exists because of the time, energy, and generosity of its members. Your contributions of both money and effort are what allow us to create, maintain, and evolve everything we bring to the Playa and beyond.

Your Dues and Participation Help Support:

  • Theme Camp Placement – A dedicated, officially placed spot with great location and infrastructure.

  • Year-Round Planning & Coordination – Meetings, logistics, fundraising, and design work that happen long before the Playa dust.

  • “Baby” the Remote-Controlled Porta-Potty – Maintenance, annual signage, upgrades, transport, and storage.

  • Art Car: Hel’s Diner – Ongoing maintenance, fuel, registration, insurance, transportation, cleaning, repairs, and storage.

  • On-Playa Fuel – Gasoline and propane for the Art Car and camp generators.

  • Common Dining Area – Shade structures, couches, tables, and a shared community hub.

  • Camp Dinners – 7 shared dinners (Sunday–Friday) plus our traditional Sunday potluck.
Note: These meals are gifts from our members, not a service. Bring your own plate, bowl, and utensils.

  • Potsticker Gifting – Over 2,000 potstickers gifted to the Playa community nightly, 6–8 PM, Sunday through Friday.

  • Kitchen Access – Common cooking area with stove, propane, BBQ, and clean-up guidelines.

The PORTA Way

Camp PORTA is powered by People of Radical Transformative Artistry.
Your dues and dedication are what make the impossible possible — the fire, the lights, the laughter, and the connection that bridge art and humanity. Together, we are building the Axis Mundi of our community — a vertical link between creativity and consciousness.

It takes all of us — money, time, and heart — to make the dream work.
Thank you for helping keep Camp PORTA alive, thriving, and transforming.

WHAT WE REQUIRE FROM YOU

  1. Burning Man requires a great deal of effort, planning & work on your part and on ours.
  2. Respect everyone!
  3. Know the 10 principles
  4. Fill out the camp questionnaire.
  5. Camp Donations – Cost Share (tax-deductible, non-refundable & non-transferable)
  6. Volunteer for at least 2 shifts by filling out the volunteer signup sheet. (link coming soon)
  7. After you have joined camp you’ll receive a link to input your logistics info. If you are coming in a group, only the driver from your group needs to fill this out and list everyone in the group. Please list what you are bringing and the size (yurt, shade structure, tent, rv, trailer, car, etc.)
  8. You are required to pick up after yourself and LEAVE NO TRACE. If you bring something for decoration or for your own comfort like a bike, chair or table, you must take it back. (if you fail to pick up after yourself you will not be invited back next year)
  9. NO CARPETS. DO NOT BRING CARPETS. They are cause for too much debris.
  10. We have no common garbage cans and for good reason. if you take back what you bring there is no need for garbage cans.
  11. Dedicate at least 2 hours to walk around the camp before you depart to pick up MOOP. Your camp area MUST BE SPOTLESS and raked. We have rakes on site for you to use.
  12. Bring everything you need for your stay and be sure to bring something to share with the community. For one week we live in a gifting community. This is a community based effort with radical self reliance being key and gifting being an integral part.
  13. Download the free whatsapp on your phone so you can be part of the ongoing planning and chat before the burn.
  14. LEAVE NO TRACE • RAKE YOUR CAMP • TAKE YOUR GARBAGE BAGS WITH YOU.
  15. If you traveled from far and don’t want to take your bike back, find the on playa bicycle donation center and donate your bike there. Do not leave your bicycles in our camp for us to deal with.

Generators & Fuel

We have had a power grid for the past 2 years. We will know more as we get closer to the 2026 burn. We do have the facilities to charge cell phones, cameras and batteries. Ask in the group chat once you are on board about these possibilities. Please DO NOT under any circumstances unplug anything from the camp generators in order to connect your device. If you are bringing a generator please tell us ahead of time so we can place you somewhere as not to disturb your neighbors. Bring extra fuel for your generator needs and read the fuel safety guidelines.

Camp Donations (Dues) & Cost Share • $600

Camp dues/donations are tax deductible, non-refundable and non-transferable. Your donations are put to use right away. The camp dues are how we share the cost in making our camp happen. Making the camp donation guarantees you a spot with Porta Party. You still need to obtain a BM Ticket.

Burning Man is about 10 days from start to finish and longer if you come in early and stay late with the crew. At $600 camp cost share, that’s only $60 a day and you help create such an amazing camp that offers so much to both the individual and to our community. We also have a lot of great things within camp like a shower, kitchen, 7 dinners, a few kegs of premium beer, an art car, shaded lounge area, mutant vehicle and so on. More details to come. We make all of this happen by sharing the cost.

DGS Tickets (Directed Group Sale)

Directed Group Sale tickets are made available for camp core members first. If you wish to join our build, tear down or LNT crew in 2024 we will help you out by making available to you access to purchase a ticket and a vehicle pass outside of the general lottery system. This means you are guaranteed to have a ticket you can purchase without having to wait in the queue to get in with the online system. You won’t have to waste time on craigslist or any other sites either. DGS tickets are only made available while supplies last and after you have joined camp and made your camp cost share donation.

ALL CAMP DONATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY Friday August 28, 2026 AT 12:00 NOON

Unless we are full before then. After that we will no longer be able to process donations and therefore guarantee placement. Camp donations can be made using Zelle or Venmo.

Happy Preparations!
